Using Cauliflower in Soups

If you watch cooking shows on television, then you may have noticed celebrity chefs using cauliflower in a lot of their dishes, and there are many good reasons why they choose this vegetable over others.

First, cauliflower is a versatile vegetable that works well alongside many other flavours. It pairs well with almost any meat, fish, seafood, and vegetable. It is also versatile, as you can cook it in multiple ways, such as boiling, frying, roasting, pickling, and pureeing.

Second, it has the ideal consistency for soup. When you blend cauliflower, it creates an exceptionally smooth paste without any grainy bits, if you do it right. It is the way that it purées that makes it an ideal ingredient for making soup.

Also, it is a vegetable that is available all year round, as it is seasonal throughout the year. You can check out our charts of seasonal vegetables to find out other seasonal vegetables to pair with your cauliflower that are seasonal at different times of the year.

You should also note that cauliflowers have many nutritional benefits. According to Nutrition Data, cauliflower has no fat, is low in calories, and is a good source of dietary fibre. It is a good source of vitamins, as it contains vitamins B6, B12, and K, along with thiamine, riboflavin, and folate. Furthermore, cauliflower is a source of minerals, including calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium.

Why Does Blue Cheese Work Well with Cauliflower in a Soup?

The other main ingredient of our cauliflower and blue cheese soup is blue cheese, and you may wonder why blue cheese works so well with cauliflower.

While cauliflower has a mild taste that has a nutty undertone, blue cheese has contrasting flavours, such as creaminess and tanginess. It is worth noting that the flavours of different varieties of blue cheese can differ significantly. Blue cheese also contributes to the soup’s smooth, creamy texture.
